Sounds scary! Somedays when bras don't fit well...
No, seriously --
Check Target's clearance racks for way-marked down bras. Even if not your size, you can use the parts for your projects. Often you can find colors beyond the boring beige/black/white in the sewing stores. Reuse and recycle those straps, closures, even the underwires.

What a great idea! I just threw out an ill-fitting bra and now I'm kicking myself b/c I could've reused the underwire!
