Whenever I am done using a pattern I don't always fold the pieces back in their original shape, but I place all the pieces plus the instruction and the envelope in a gallon-size plastic bag. I also add a piece of the fabric that I made the pattern with. Then on the plastic bag I put the date I sewed the outfit. I have a boxful of plastic bags with patterns already cut so I just dig into those whenever I need to make another one.

I'd seen similar tips before but adding the fabric is genius! I always mess with the fabric recommendations anyway and just remember that I didn't like the pattern and not how the fabric interacted.- Would be very helpful for wardrobe planning too.

I like the idea of adding a piece of the fabric you used ot make the pattern. What a great memory jogger - it will really help you remember the finished product, and what you liked or disliked about it.
