On the advice of a friend who had attended this expo before, I signed up and went for two days. She had the right idea as the vendors alone can overwhelm you ! I had four classes the first day and two the second and the second day was much more enjoyable. Most of the classes were very worthwhile, only one was more of an advertorial for that designer instead of sharing information. I learned the most from "Sew with your Feet and Have Fun with your needles" taught by Canadian Debra Justice and "Sewing with Knits" by Fred Bloebaum ( who designs the LaFred line of patterns). I enjoyed a class with Clothilde who demonstrated good and bad notions during a session on "Pins, Stabilizers, what are these things ?" One hint - don't waste $3.50 a tube on so-called fabric glue - it's the same as the kid's stick glue for 50 cents a tube at a department store ! I truly enjoyed visiting with the PetitePlus pattern staff and a fashion show by Pati Palmer and Martha Alto of Palmer/Pletsch. They say asymmetrical hemlines, trumpet sleeves and the color coral are the "thing" for spring fashions. The fashion show was fun but also useful for me as a beginner to see the different patterns "made up" in a final product. Sort of like a 3-D version of a pattern envelope.
