| I have made free pattern weights by disassembling dust collecting trophys. The trophies don't means much to us now, but I just couldn't bring myself to throw them away. The base of most trophies are marble rectangles. If you turn them over, you will see where a nut and bolts can be loosened to remove the marble base. They are a nice weight to hold pattern pieces on the cutting table, the edges are smooth, they stack and they are free. Don't you have some of these dust collectors that can be turned into pattern weights? |
Great idea! You need to tell Gigi before she donates all her DS's trophys!

It *is* a great idea! Unfortunately, I think my trophy bases might be too large - I'll have to check it out.

Well - I have tons waiting to go to the recycle station - all won at cat shows. I don't know why we get throfys so ugly and dust collecting instead of say a ceramic water bowl or something else as usefull... Well maybe they can be usefull now - will have to go and take a look in that garbage bag..

Excellent idea! Yes, this family does. I had planned on removing the brass plates some day and putting them all on a piece of wood. Now I know what to do with the marble I didn't want to throw out! Thanks Diane!!!

This is a great idea! I always look for small heavy things, and have heaps old tennis trophies outside. Will go and find them. I also find the weights from old scales good, but they are hard to come by now.
