This tip relates to a notion just reviewed - Hugo's Amazing Tape, a plastic tape with cling and memory characteristics.
The 2 inch size is great for making a seam extension template for you sewing machine. I used a fine line Sharpie marker in purple and green to mark off alternate 1/8 inch increments on the tape (Sharpies are permanent markers. Non-permanent markers wouldn’t work because they smear.)
Now I have a permanent template for wide seams. When it's not in use I just park it on the top of my machine. There is no residue from the tape at all.
