On a recent project, I was having a hard time deciding which of four colours of thread to use for my topstitching, so being the indecisive person that I am, I decided to use all of them!
I used a twin needle with two different colours to do the topstitching. Then I went back and used the twin needle to make another parallel set of stitches again, centering one of the first lines of stitching in the middle of the twin needle.
Use a twin needle that is two thirds of your desired total width.

Thanks for the pic - the multi colored threads make a nice match for the knit hood!
