For a drawstring used in casual clothing, instead of making a turned loop drawstring, cut the drawstring piece along the selvage. Then fold the selvage over the raw edge and stitch, folding in the raw ends.
I did this when I made a drawstring on some cotton pants and it worked great. |
Well now, aren't you clever. This is a great idea. I'm in the midst of a drawstring pants sewing frenzy, and this trick will save me a few trips to the store to locate matching drawstrings when my shoelace collection fails me. Good one, Lori.

Love this idea! I've got a couple of drawstring pants patterns I want to make, so I'll definitely be using this tip! Thanks!
