|I took Jean Haas' Dress Forms: Fast and Easy class this past August (in addition to her Pants Forms: Fast and Easy as well). Really wanted to take it this past Spring, but dragged my feet and missed the starting date of the class.
Sure am glad I took this class when it was offered again this past August! Jean is an excellent instructor who is there for the class participants at least a month prior to the class. She is extremely helpful, responds quickly to questions, and is very encouraging and motivating. I got everything I wanted out of this class--A duct tape replica of my body. Not only does she help you create the DTD, but it is on a rotating stand/base that is so easy to use.
Jean had many vidoes and pdf's to download for the class. For class participants that have dial-up (like me), I would strongly suggest purchasing the DVD's she sells at her site www.dressformdesigning.com, in addition to the class fee. It is not required, but I spent a entire day making sure I got my downloads done (that was kind of a pain). I would have rather just purchased the DVD. The class does move quickly, only about 2 weeks long, but the Q&A boards are open at least a week after the class ends. She had 3 chats for the class and was incredibly helpful in each one.
If anyone plans on taking this Dress Form class when it is offered in the future, I would also recommend taking the Pants Form class as well. It IS a lot of work! But taking the two classes together maximizes your time and materials, both being complementary to each other. I made my DTD for myself with my husband's help, and I did the Pants DTD on my 11-year old daughter.
Her classes were the first on-line ones I've ever taken. I highly recommend them, and you'll get out of the class what you put into it. I'm going to take more of her classes as soon as they are available. Taking Jean's class was like Christmas in August for me--I got this wonderful DTD that I'm using all the time now.
