This class was hosted by Ann Silva's Bernina in Albuquerque and presented by Jackie Robinson, owner of Animas Quilts Publishing. Jackie teaches at quilt shops and shows all over the US, so you may find this program in your area.

I am not a quilter, but I am a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright (referred to as FLW from here on out), so I attended the program based on that. Jackie gives an interesting talk, consisting of three parts: a one-woman show, in which she literally becomes FLW to present his biography, personal and professional; the second part is a slide show of FLW, the buildings he designed, and important people in his life; the third part is a trunk show in which she shows and discusses the quilts based on art-glass windows FLW designed.

It was a well done program--I learned a lot, was entertained, and was enthralled by the beautiful quilts. In addition, I picked up some great quilting tips, should I ever decide I want to go that direction with my sewing (the FLW designs just might do that!!). Jackie is very knowlegible on the subject of her talk--both the architect and quilting. I would heartily recommend this program if you ever have the opportunity to attend.

I sure will! I didn't post a review of the book because I really hadn't had a chance to look at it much (too much surfing on PR after I got home last nite! :-)

Nan, please give us a short review of the book so that we have the title and a little information. Thanks!

I confess, I also bought her book for that very purpose. Jackie's technique is pieced; however, I see no reason why the designs could not be adapted to other techniques and fabrics.

Wow, this sounds like a great class. I wonder if you could apply some of the information to applique and use on garments. Did you see Gigi's ultrasuede jacket with the fringe and applique posted in the forum recently? I can imagine FLW stained glass translating very easily to that type of reverse applique. I hope that Ms. Robinson writes a book on the subject someday.
