I learned this from an upholsterer many years ago. I still bless his name.

I have cut a lot of foam over the years and the BEST tool to use is an electric carving knife.

They are readily available and many of us have one lurking somewhere. They often can be found for really cheap at Estate Sales.

I used this tip yesterday when making a seat cushion for my son. I expected a lot of "sawdust", but there wasn't any. I marked the cutting line with a ruler and a felt tipped pen. The electric knife did a great job on the foam rubber
