I posted this before on the message board in the "jeans sew a long" thread.
When I was about to do the decorative topstitching on the back pockets of my jeans (you know the swirly stitching across the pockets that you do before you put the pockets on) I realized I was never going to get two the same pockets. I carefull traced the pattern with my chalk , but the line was just to coarse the get two evenly stitched patterns.
I even considered digitizing the dreaded "swirl" and embroidering it on. (How two little scribbles on a pocket can bug you....).
However the solution was very simple. I traced the pocket pattern twice on tracing paper with a fine pen. Then I pinned the tracing paper to the right side of the pockets and stitched the design throug the paper. Just peel the paper of and you've got two identical pockets with rtw detail.
