|This is probably the most useful sewing workshop Iíve participated in. Instructor Kathleen Cheetham of British Columbia (http://www.petitepluspatterns.com) is both a great teacher and a dedicated student of pattern-making and fitting. She showed tremendous patience and respect for all her students, who came in many shapes and sizes. This was a no-nonsense seminar that taught fitting using two Petite Plus patterns - #202, the flat front pant, and # 601, the princess-seamed blazer. We learned many of the underlying principles of patternmaking that helped us to make adjustments that work. After trying on appropriately-sized samples in both patterns, we constructed muslins of the pants and made tissue-paper adjustments for the blazer. Although my pants had to be adjusted three times to conform to the unique issues presented by my body, Kathleen worked quietly and steadily with me over the course of the workshop until we got it right. The class was sponsored by Evelynís Sewing Centre, a warm and welcoming store that made sure we were as comfortable as could be. It is not possible to complete this workshop without learning how to make a pair of pants and a jacket that fit beautifully. In addition, Kathleen remains accessible to her students via email if further assistance is needed. I have taken many fitting workshops, with limited or no success in actually ending up with patterns that fit. In desperation I traveled a great distance to participate in this class. It was completely worth it.
