A friend of mine is looking for a pattern or tutorial on making zipper ties. Her son attends a private school where he needs to wear a tie each day and the one zipper tie that he has is easy for him to manage (he is young, just 6 or 7 as I recall.) Does anyone know of such a pattern?

Here is a video of one being put on. It doesn't look like much to me -- just a long zipper with the knot of the tie attached to the pull. I would hazard a guess that the ends are sewn together.

I wouldn't know -- I turned off the sound during the video. I don't think the music had anything to do with the demo.

My brothers had to wear ties to school way back when. Their ties had an overlapping area in back that snapped. When the collar was down it wasn't noticible.

Hey, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. LOL. I have never seen these before. What a good idea. I did a short search but haven't found anything. One may have to be purchased to determine how it is made. Directions must be somewhere, but where?

My son, now a sophomore in college, had to wear one of these zipper ties to school every day in first grade. As I recall it was a pre-tied tie with the knot and front flap of the tie that slipped up and down with the zipper pull, and the 2 halves of the zipper in the back flap of the tie and extending around the neck. It was much easier than trying to get a 5 or 6 year old to put on a real tie, but he hated it and the whole uniform thing.
