Right now I am looking at the babylock esente. The brother 1500D is almost the the same machine at about the same price. Brother makes machines for babylock. Right. I was told by the dealer that babylock makes the brother better? I am so confuse!!

Unfortunately here in Australia Babylock only made their sergers and two sewing machines available

However the Brother 1500D is a promising machine. Essentially the Babylock is pretty much the exact same machine according to what I have seen. Only difference would be the Embroidery designs and the physical appearance of the machine.

What was the price difference between the Brother 1500D and the Babylock Esante?

As with most products, there are only a handful of sewing machine manufacturing factories in the world. Babylock designs their machines, and Brother, which has a factory, manufactures the Babylock machines to Babylock's specifications.

The Brother factory also manufactures their own machines.

IMO, Babylock is better made, and the warranty is superb. Others may feel Brother is better value for the price. Personal decision is VIP in the issue of which machine brand/model is the best.

It is the same company. As someone once stated: think Toyota and Lexus.

It's always been hard for me to believe that Brother would make a less than better machine under its own brand name when it makes various types of industry machines for high volume manufacturing. It would be nice for someone who has experience with both to tell what exactly makes BabyLock better than Brother if they are the same machine, 'essentially'. What, 'essentially', is the same or different - no one ever says? Are we really talking about Bird'sEye frozen Peas vs. Green Giant's!? What's the difference? Example: It would be foolish to pay Whole Foods 89 cents for ONE conventional lemon when you can get the same FOUR at the corner grocery for 99 cents - 4 for 1 vs 1 for 1.

Brother and Babylock are not the same company. Brother manufactures Babylocks to Babylock specs. Tacony Corp. owns Babylock.

HI, I actually called the lady at Babylock who works at the corporated level several months ago. She said those machines that look identical to the Brother machine are made with the same parts and with the same quality as the Brother machines. The only difference would be in the software. The Babylock embroidery parts of their machines have Nancy Zeiman designs, and the Brother has the Disney designs. The Brother machines also have the custom stitch feature that is not on The Babylock clone. She did say, though, that she thought that Babylock had more quality checkers (for lack of a better word) than Brother, but I really don't know how she would know this. Harriet

Since Babylocks are made by Tacony Corp submitting their specs to the Brother plant, I'd say the Brothers are the clones.

Hi Lynn, I think you are just teasing me! The Babylock machines are the clones since the Babylock company does not make their sewing machines. Tacony is their distributor. The sewing machines that look like the Brother are made by Brother in the same factory and as I said only the software is made to the Babylock specs. Harriet
