Dear Fitting Gurus,

Any suggestions on how to correct the fit on this skirt? I think I may have been too overzealous with my swayback adjustment (took out 1.5" total). After seeing this, I researched and decided I need a full derriere ajustment as well. However, I stupidly did not muslin this skirt, and also cut off the waist seam allowance). Any idea on how to adjust this without ruining the fabric?

Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert, but it kinda looks like the darts need to be shaped to take up more in the middle of the dart, and maybe pointed more toward the CB rather than straight down? I don't think it looks horrible, though - I have seem plenty of RTW that is much worse. I think with a couple tweaks you could end up with something very wearable.

It almost looks like you need to pull the side seams up just a little.....to straighten out those wrinkles. Could you take the waistband apart say....about 2 inches in front of the side seam...all the way to the center back seam, and then just ever so slightly pull the skirt up until the wrinkles go away. Then taper the skirt waist seam back to the original seam allowance at center back. I hope this makes sense. Envision doing a pattern alteration that calls for you to "slash and overlap" and keeping the center back your pivot point. This would make your hemline shorter at the side seams......not sure what your hem allowance is or if you have enough play here.
Let us know what you end up doing. Good luck.

Sorry....after re-reading my post I realized that this may mess up the front skirt. You may have to take the skirt apart at the side seams and raise only the back skirt.

Hi knitstitcher and LauraTS, I ended up doing a combination of things. Horizontal waist dart and a bit of fudging at the center back seam as well. It looks a lot better. Thanks you two!

just checked your review. This is a beautiful dress. I also love the pleats front and back.
