Date: 12/30/07 7:15 AM This sounds like an interesting new contest. I'll be watching from the sideline though. With temperatures outside reaching 42C/ 108F, this is not a good time to be working with wool. ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 12/30/07 6:15 PM Fabulous. My grandmother gave me 4 yards of vintage royal blue Pendleton Wool from her stash in August, and I got working on pressing out the 40 year old wrinkles yesterday! She bought it when she visited the mill back in the 60s and it still has the original tags on it... She never did anything with it, but I've had my eye on it for a few months now so this contest is a perfect excuse! ------ www.fehrtrade.com |

Keep in mind that we'd hate for you to run into a glitch if you wait and enter at the last minute, then miss out all together.

Date: 12/30/07 7:04 PM I hear ya on this one...our temps never are in the "wool" range so I have never, and will probably never, get the opportunity to sew with 100% wool. I am so excited to see what people make with it since it has never even crossed my mind to buy it. I just never thought of making anything but coats out of that material...obviously living in south florida has me out of the loop...lol. |

Date: 12/30/07 10:24 PM I am in! I am going to make a very modified (read "redrafted") Hot Patterns Metropolitan jacket out of 100% wool crepe. If I am very good, I may get to the matching skirt in time to enter it as an ensemble. |

Pendleton wool can be so wonderful. I have several(many?) lengths in my stash.

Have you felt tropical weight wool? It is lightweight and can be comfortable in temps we don't normally think of as wool temps. I have a lightweight navy skirt that is one of the first wool skirts to come out in the fall and one of the last to be put away in the spring. Just a thought.
This should be a fun contest. I will probably sew a dress from some royal blue wool gaberdine I bought on Wednesday.
