Dear Claire,

Here is the description of your new pants pattern available from Vogue:

Straight-legged pants (semi-fitted through the hip) have contour yoke with front button closure, mock fly zipper, carriers, back welt pocket with buttoned flap and turned back cuffs. A: couture construction. B: front and back darts

Please compare this to your last pants pattern:

Straight-legged pants (semi-fitted through hip) have contour, front button yoke and mock-fly zipper. A: couture construction. B: darts

Claire? Let's be honest here. Your new pattern is the old pattern, with a pocket. And cuffs.

I'm sure you are very busy but could you please maybe offer something that is not straight legged, and doesn't have a yoke? Yokes are not my friend.

There used to be a CS pant pattern with a regular waistband, although it was straight-legged. I think it may have had pleats..... Has it gone out of print?

I'm still fuming over V8087, a situation in which emails to Vogue go unanswered. I even bought it directly from their website!!

Not even an awknowledgement.

Not even an offer to send the fixed one, if it ever gets fixed...

NOT a Happy Camper over here. I finally bought my first Shaeffer pattern, and worked it up (V8087) - after fixing it, and have yet to post a review. I'm having a hard time getting over the "fuming" part.

Can you add, "please ask Vogue to work with customers, and pull incorrect patterns from distributor's shelves" to your letter? No one at any of my local distributor's was even aware of this.

If the designer lacks interest in sticking up for their customers, then I lack interest in promoting their designs.

Twisted, you say your pattern was Vogue 8087, the Claire Schaeffer jacket with the mis-drafted sleeve?

I had bought that one, and when Claire posted the fact that there had been a drafting error, I sent an email to Vogue just telling them that I had purchased that pattern, and would like her corrections--as well as a new pattern when they had printed the correct pattern pieces.

They fired back an email the next day, sent me Claire's corrections within a couple of weeks, and last week, my new, replacement pattern arrived!

I think I just used the "contact us" button on the Vogue website. Is that the one you used?

Hi Elona,

I've tried it a couple of times... no avail.

Perhaps they're just ignoring me!!

Maybe third time is the charm??

We'll see..

Nikki, it has not gone out of print, but it is straight legged, and looks to be on-the-narrow-side-of straight at that. And it has front pleats. Not very 'me'.

I wondered about that also, did you mention that they have also added beltloops? I like the style and own the first pattern but I don't think I will be buying the second.

And not very current, either. I wore the pair I made a few years ago to a boutique, and the owner (who is a friend, and said it - mostly - in fun) teased me, "You're actually wearing pleated trousers? I can't associate with you!"

So those have been relegated to the when-it-comes-back-in-style pile.

D*mn, and that was some really fine wool I used, too!

I know what you mean, Ann. I was cleaning out my closet the other day and tried on some pleated wool crepe trousers that I loved just a couple of years ago. Eeek! And the tapered leg! Double eek!

Ann: Madame LaZonga feels that pleated front pants will be coming back sooooon if they are not here already.

**Sometimes** she's right
