I have a Kenmore 19233 purchased 1 year ago exactly. I haven't used it in about 6 months. Now, after about 1 inch of sewing, the bobbin holder jumps up out of position, makes noise, and the needle thread keeps breaking. I tried different bobbins, a new needle, different thread, different tensions. Any suggestions before I bring it for service? Of course, my daugther needs a skirt in a week for band concerts.

Top loading bobbin? It sounds like the case isn't properly seated. There should be some kind of latch to secure it but I'm not familiar with Kenmores and every machine is different.

I have a different model Kenmore and haven't had that problem but I was wondering if taking the plate off your machine and cleaning the race might help. It could be that the thread is hanging up on something under there and pulling the bobbin up enough to knock the holder off position. You might want to double check that your bobbin thread is coming out of the little notched tension area properly too.

I happened to think of something else ..have you tried taking the whole bobbin area apart and cleaning under it to see if a little ball of lint or fluff is bunched up under there that might be causing this problem?

Thanks for your messages. I checked all that I could. Finally, I just took the machine to Sears Repairs shop since it is under warranty. It seems like it should be something simple, but I gave up. I'll let you know what they find. Funny that it is 1 year 7 days exactly from when I purchased it. I'm glad I have a 3 year warranty.
