Date: 12/26/05 9:26 AM Does anyone have suggestions for their favorite quilting magazine? I treated myself to a subscription to Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting last year. I enjoyed it but thought I'd branch out to something new this year. Which ones do you like? I'm intermediate sewist/quilter.
Thanks. |

Date: 12/26/05 9:46 AM I also have a subscription to Fon's and Porter Love of Quilting. I have picked up a few copies of the "Quilter's Newsletter Magazine" and enjoy those as, well. Some of the quilts and techniques are a little more advanced than my current skill level, but they're full of good information. Several members of our guild have subscriptions to this magazine. I haven't subscribed, because it's not in the budget right now. They're web address is www.quiltersnewsletter.com

Date: 12/26/05 10:05 AM I have a subscription to Quilter's World. I've not got fired up over any of the patterns but can't complain because the sub was a gift.
I am going to subscribe to The Quilter Magazine this year. I have a few issues from 2004 and love looking through them.
There is a website with some great patterns, McCall's Quilting. The magazine is a good one too.

Date: 12/26/05 10:22 AM I subscribe to QuiltingArts magazine. It's for people interested in less traditional quilting, with an emphasis on interesting techniques. I've learned a lot about image transfer, for example. The same company also publishes Cloth, Paper, Scissors, which has some ideas useful for non-traditional quilting, as well as articles on altered books, collage, etc. |

Date: 12/26/05 11:29 AM I subscribe to Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and American Quilter, which is put out by the American Quilter's Society. You have to join the AQS to get the magazine (kind of like joining National Geographic to get that magazine), but you get great discounts on books with the membership. |

Subject: favorite quiters magazine Date: 12/26/05 11:33 AM I'm not a quilter (so what am I doing in this thread??) ... but for a while I was very taken with it and I subbed to Australian Quilting and Patchwork. Beautiful quilts every month, lots of inspiration and tons of blocks.
Edited to add:
You can try out an issue or two by purchasing from Erica's. NAYY. In the magazines mastheads are two North American distributors (Stonehouse Publications and Quilter's Resource) you can subscribe from if you decide you want to.

Date: 12/26/05 9:00 PM I get or used to get these ones, in order of preference:
Quilter's Newsletter (my favorite)
New Zealand Quilter
Australian Quilter
Cloth,Paper, Scissors
Quilting Arts
I prefer Quilter's Newsletter because it has a variety of articles and varying levels of projects (not that I've ever done one-- I mostly buy these magazines to look at the pictures!)
I've been told that the Japanese magazine called something like Japanese Quilt Tshushin is nice (but in Japanese), but this is just hearsay....

Date: 12/27/05 1:22 PM Thanks for the suggestions. I will check out the sites and try to pick one. I, too usually just enjoy the pictures and the articles. Maybe one day I'll dive in and make one of the featured quilts. |

Date: 12/29/05 3:54 PM Better Homes and Gardens has a nice one too called American Patchwork and Quilting. I like that and McCalls best. But I am not a serious quilter. ------ Stefanie |
