This site is full of nice people, so I was shocked to find that someone left a rude comment on one of my reviews! Apparently, the person didn't find my review helpful enough. But instead of asking questions like a decent person, she posted this:

How rude!! Has this happened to anyone else here?

WOW! Thanks for pointing this out. I agree, questions would have been more appropriate than a slam.

We all have different personalities and bad days. I agree it could have been worded much differently. But I'm not sure that Kirsty was being intentionally rude as much as complying with the instructions that if you post "not enough info" you need to request more info. She was asking questions, but her wording came off as rude. I think her writing technique of using the third person also contributes to it sounding rude. Like she isn't talking to you. I bet if you take read it using the word "you" instead of "she" it wouldn't sound as bad.

I don't know why she didn't PM you and ask if you recall such and such about using the pattern. Seems pointless to berate your review. She was probably wanting help before starting her own project although it is strange that she worded it as if she were asking me for the answers instead of you directly.

Gosh, I didn't know we were supposed to write our reviews in any sort of way that would leave us open to criticism if it's not just right. I'm the overly sensitive type so that would've probably made me gun shy about posting more reviews.

But on the other hand, I can also see what Sherril is saying too. My gut instinct on this one is that Kirsty was mostly just being careless with her words versus malicious. But I could be wrong.

Ouch! I'd be upset if this was on one of my reviews and like Zeoplum would probably be gunshy about posting another review.

But on the other hand I too think that maybe she didn't mean it the way it sounded. Perhaps she thought she was sending a message to someone else who would ask you about it.

It's happened to me too - just gotta roll with it. It always amazes me how many people "speak before they think" when it comes to the web!

I can't even tell you how many times I've had second thoughts about a post or comment after I re-read my draft with fresh eyes!...and inevitabley I end up toning down my original thought.
