Would a Janome presser foot shank work?

I bought my husband's 11 year old grand-daughter a Kenmore Mini-Ultra for Christmas, as she was sewing on her aunts machine whenever she visited that aunt, but didn't have access to a working sewing machine at home. The presser feet seem to be attached permanently to the shank, rather than snap-on, but I could be mistaken. She has developed an interest in quilting, so I'm wondering if it would be possible to fit a 1/4" foot to this machine? Is this machine made by Janome? I could get a shank for snap-on feet at my Janome dealership if it is.
I asked at Sears, but none of the sales people who were on duty that day knew the answer.

Rhoda, there's a 1/4" foot available for the machine at Sears but any Janome low-shank foot should fit. Actually, any Kenmore or Elna low-shank will fit also. I used the machine briefly before I gave it to my daugher and now can't remember how the feet come on and off. I seem to recall only 2 come with it. This actually is the original Jem in blue paint so I know there are feet available to fit it. Even Hancock's has a version of the mini-ultra but not sure if they stock feet for it. There's a pack of feet you can buy from Sears that includes the 1/4" plus some others for around $20. They may be of the screw-on type.

Rhoda, I have this machine. If you go to Sears.com and search "vertical sewing machine foot", you will find all kinds of feet for it. Look for something called "foot holder unit". You will need that to use the snap-on feet. The 1/4" foot is wonderful, by the way. There is also another that I think is a must-have. It is the blind hem foot. They show two on the website. Mine is the one without any white plastic. If you move the guide all the way to the right, you can get a zigzag seam with a 1/4" seam allowance. You can also use it to line up the narrow zigzag stitch (satin stitch).

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I hope the same things are available in Canada as in the States.
