I have a wonderful little summer dress I bought at a store last year. I would like to make myself more similar to it but am having trouble finding just the right pattern. The dress is rather a simple A-line dress but the important part is that the bodice ...well....ties in a knot between my breasts. You see...I got a bit cheated out in that department and I love that this dress fits so well because I can tie the knot as tight as I need to to fit my small chest.

Any ideas? M.Smith.

New Look 6408 is a top that ties in the front. . .but, if you're small in the front, trying to always pick dresses/tops that ties in the front is going to get boring real fast. You'll probably need to learn how to do a small bust adjustment.

(I would explain how, but unfortunately, knowing that such a thing as a small bust adjustment exists is about as far as my knowledge goes. . .I think it is described in the book Fit for Real People.)

For those Husqvarna Viking machine purchasers you may have noticed the "Fashion Fun Kit" that is/was one of their many sewing kit series . I am actually looking for the pattern/directions to to the cute pintucked white top with front zipper opening and pintucked sleeves as well also skirt the model on front of this box is wearing both demonstrating the pintucking foot obviously. I have tried going to the HV website and checking their project database but to no avail. It appears this kit may not be still available. Is anyone familiar with this pattern or one similar?

Debster, I know the exact top you're talking about! Unfortunately, I can't find the exact pattern either. The closest thing I can find is Butterick 4457. (About it's only similarity is the fact that is has tucks on the front, those many veritcal lines giving an illusion of slimness.) What's your favorite part about the HV project? Being able to use the pintucking foot? The way it ruffles at the hem and sleeve ends? If we knew exactly what it was you were looking for, we might be able to help you figure out how to do it. I can see how they did the pintucking on the HV project, so I could describe how to do it, even though I can't find the pattern, if that would help you.

Fast Fit actually does a better job explaining a small bust adjustment IMHO than FFRP. How you do the adjustment depends on what kind of an outfit you are making--darts, princess seams, or no seams in the front. When all else fails bring in the side seams on the front piece only. I do this regularly.

Thanks Talitha for the Butterick pattern tip. I'll research that one and see what I find. I guess the part that really appeals is the tucks around the bodice waistline area with the invisible zipper and ties down the front. Was thinking of making it out of a no-iron required material maybe a stretch supima cotton.
I've picked up a couple of vintage tucked patterns in hopes of maybe revising a few...but the zipper down the front in combination has been a bit hard to come up with. Thanks for your ideas

best... Debster
