Date: 2/27/06 10:08 AM I love this contest! Everyone has a pattern stash, and this is a fun way to go through it.
I'll be managing, so I won't be entered officially, but I will be playing along unofficially, sewing "stashed patterns".
(An unused pattern in your possession prior to midnight March 1st is technically "stash". I wanted to start the contest thread with a little bit of shopping-lead time. )
Post any further queries here, and let's cheer each other on.
Have fun!

Date: 2/27/06 11:31 AM I can really use a contest like this. I think 95% of my patterns are considered stash, so look forward to the extra reason to sew. |

Date: 2/27/06 12:04 PM This is a good contest to have right now. I'm hoping to try a handful of my stash patterns in the very near future.
I just need to finish my jacket ... almost there ...

Date: 2/27/06 12:23 PM I'm in, too. I don't have that many patterns in stash, but I need all the help I can get to use up what I have instead of buying more.
Question: Can you use a pattern that has been traced out already (but not made) for the contest or must it be fresh from the envelope?

Date: 2/27/06 12:34 PM Same question as Melissa- with an adendum. What about patterns you've traced and then sewn a muslin for (not a wearable one- just for fitting) but then put it away and never used it?
Also, what about patterns you ordered before March 1 but didn't receive until after? (My finger is itching towords my "Shopping Bag" on the PR website I've had some patterns in there for weeks )

In reply to Trinity.
Date: 2/27/06 12:42 PM xenophena, I did start this thread prematurely, but, I believe going by the precedent of last contests' ruling, if you've traced your pattern--and not sewn it, it DOES count as stash,
BUT
if you make a muslin, that would by definition be sewn, and not eligible for Pattern Stash Reduction contest.
The other question was if you ordered the pattern prior to start date? But it hasn't been delivered?
This question has precedent as well:
It would have to get to you, and be in your physical possession by midnight March 1 to count as stash.
HTH!
edited for clarity.

Date: 2/27/06 12:50 PM Do Burda WOF count toward pattern stashes? This weekend I wound up 'organizing' my Burda's and taking the 'at a glance' pages and putting them in a notebook (with the intention that I will sew up more Burda's!), when I did this, I found so many patterns that I want to use! ------ "If you can't afford to buy art, you wear it." - Michael Kors

Date: 2/27/06 12:53 PM I traced 2 stash patterns this weekend and cut out both. As long as I don't sew a stitch on them before March 1 (not likely), they count? ------ Carolyn

Date: 2/27/06 1:09 PM Deepika hasn't posted the official rules yet, so this may all change Mar 1.
I don't really think it will, I just wanted to CMB.
Going by precendent established in the last contest
BWOF counts.
The eventual decision was that a BWOF was like a wardrobe pattern, and each distinct item sewn could count.
In a case where there are views that are mere variations on an identical base, only the first iteration of the view sewn should be counted.

Date: 2/27/06 1:19 PM I would say so.
You swear on a stack of BWOF's they are completely unsewn?
(Just kidding.)
