My DBF is a huge fan of snowboarding. I just got back from a snowboarding trip last night, and a stack of patterns followed me home.

Here's how I know he loves me: We're hitting the road, running late, and have to meet up his friends from LA on the way... but I *desperately* needed to pick up something from JoAnn's (like I'm gonna be snowed in with a bunch of techhie geeks and not bring a project).

He's in a BIG hurry, but concedes... As I'm heading to the register, he says "Hey!! There's a pattern sale! $1.99"

I say, "well, I know you're in a hurry."

He goes, "That's good deal! Get some."

We both know that I needed more patterns just as badly as I need a hole in the head.

...and an enabler! My husband loves me too. This is how I ended up with another sewing machine and enough fabric and patterns to clothe me for the rest of my life (let's hope I live a long time!). Of course I'd choose a husband who encourages my hobby over one who doesn't any day, even if he doesn't quite help me control the hobby-spending.

My brand-new DH has long been "supportive" of my hobby. He's the one who tells me to go out and buy more fabric because what I already have is adequate, but not perfect for a new project. He understands my need to go and browse in a fabric shop for no particular reason, why it can take two hours, and why I enjoy it! He came shopping with me when I chose fabric for my wedding dress, and not only gave considered and thoughtful opinions, he also was the one who was certain that the fabric I chose was "the" fabric. He was right. He also appreciates that mending is not the same as sewing

Mine told me I could get another machine, too! Yippee! Of course the last patterns I bought were ones he picked out for himself. It was kind of weird seeing him flipping through the McCall's pattern book. I also busted him looking around the Malden Mills website.... Ahhh wedded bliss.

We're so lucky to have such great guys. Yesterday I had my left hand put in a cast (you should see me type) and the thing I was worried about was "how am I going to sew anything". He jumped right in and said he'd help and offered to make a poncho (I can' t get my hand in the armhole of my jacket) for me if I told him what to do.

Wow we are very lucky to have guys like this. My DH took helped clean out my sewing room, so we could paint it and lay new flooring. He wants to build a storage room for me to store the fabric stash in.

Sounds like we all have some special guys in our lives.

Lucky we are!

When he bought his snowboard jacket, he was entralled over the details and quality, and he asked, "I wonder how many hours went into making this. How long would it take one skilled person to put this together?"

Now that's not a thought MOST men have. Most men are wondering how long it will hold up before they DESTROY it.

my husband seems to show no interest in my sewing except to offer an opinion on a garment when asked, though he is willing to sit outside the fabric shop reading the newspaper in the car while I shop.
I was really surprised when he called me down from the sewing room the other night to show me one of the "desperate housewives" wearing a pink twist top just like the ones I had modelled for him at the weekend. so I guess he was taking notice after all. lovely man!
I made the burda magazine, the kwiksew and the knipmode. and they all turned out really well.
