Can anyone suggest a pattern to recreate one of the larger Vera Bradley type quilted bags? I like these bags very much, but they are so popular that I don't want to buy one and look like everyone else! I've found some fabric I like but just can't seem to locate a pattern that is close.

Does anyone have any suggestions? This is the style: Vera Bradley

Thanks!!
Aimee

I bought a pattern 99% like this from Fons & Porter. I made it for my mother. The instructions were very good; Fons & Porter also did a show on making this bag. It may be available from your library as a vcr tape. If so, watch it. The trick is using fabric that is double sided quilted with contrasting sides. Turning the hemmed edges OUT, not under, makes it look like the edges are bound. For my taste, the F & P pattern was a little too large. The next one I make will be scaled down a bit. I also bought some clear plexiglass & cut it to size for the bottom. My father sanded the edges so they weren't sharp.

I love this website!
