I can't seem to find the reference to online suppliers of swimsuit elastic that was here on the site somewhere. Can someone recommend any good online sources so I can make my first bathing suit? (The notions places here in NYC don't seem to have any or know what it is.) Thanks!

Home Sew has it.

Buy cotton elastic from JoAnns. It works great and isn't eaten by chlorine. Just pre-shrink it first.

This is what I used to do, but they never had the 3/4" elastic for my shelf bras. I found that at the Home Sew site, and while I was there I ordered 50 yards of the 3/8" stuff, too. I'm pretty sure it is (was?) the same stuff.

I get my elastic from www.fabricdepotco.com
I either buy the natural stuff or the rubber. Both work great!

I like the knit swimsuit elastic, no matter how hard you stretch it, it doesn't get narrower which makes it easier to sew especially with a serger.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

I really like the swimsuit elastic from
Needle Nook Fabrics
2714 Boulevard Plaza
Wichita, KS 67211-3812
(316) 684-5989

Ask for Anne St. Clair.

The elastic is much softer than the cotton/rubber kind, and holds up great. In fact I need to call and order more from her. As I recall it's fairly inexpensive and she ships quickly.
