I went to Pattern Reviews in the left hand margin. I see some THUMBS UP icons next to the pattern company name. Obviously this means something good, but what designated these particular patterns to merit the THUMBS UP icon?

It means that the pattern has more than five reviews.
It just means that it's popular.
"Today there are so many people, so many things, so many emotions, and the more there is, the less I want. The more man flies to the moon, the more I want to sit and look at a tree. The more I live in a city, the more I search for a blade of grass." Audrey Hepburn, Vogue Magazine, 1971

There's also a "key" to this and other symbols at the bottom of the review list.
