Date: 7/6/06 6:56 PM Starting a new thread for our Saturday 15 July field trip.
Quote: How about these as a suggestion ... Tessuti (Surry Hills), Fine Wools Direct (Camperdown open, 10am-3pm), Remnant Warehouse (Marrickville 9-1pm ... haven't been here, but they advertise 30,000 fabrics), Justknits (Alexandria ... they're still advertising, but will ring and check first), then out to Pitt Trading at Ramsgate (9-5pm ... I've not been here, but always found things when they've been at the S & C show ... Maree, what did you think on your recent trip?). We could then head back to the start (Central) to drop off and 'do' the Haymarket/China Town stores if anyone was still either 'willing or able'.
There were also a couple of Asian stores listed for the Marrickville area and a place called Victory Fabrics for Unwin's Bridge Rd (which could be done on the way to Ramsgate ... for some reason this rings a bell, but have no idea why????). There is/was a button store near the old FWD outlet, but not sure where.

Your plan sounds like a really good one … and those who want to escape from the mob can do so at anytime without offence. (There’s train station escape routes at Newtown, Marrickville, Kogarah & bus stops & or cafe at points in between).
All Buttons Great & Small is at King St Newtown – I know where, and can be done after FWD and before Remnant Warehouse in Marrickville.
There's also a sari shop further along King St, on the other side of the road to Buttons if anyone is interested in their pretties.
I’d love to see Victory Fabrics which is in St Peters (between Newtown & Marrickville and/or the asian fabric stores in Marrickville.
As we’re travelling by car, there’s also Rainbow Fabrics at Kogarah (just before we get to Ramsgate) which I’ve never been to, and is near the train station there so can be done or not. Saturday 9-4.

If we really wanted there’s My Hung at Hurstville – opposite the train station. I can never walk away from this shop empty handed.
As it seems we'll be public transporting it, we'll still have Tessuti, Commonwealth St in Surry Hills as our meeting point at about 10.30am.
We could easily then go to European Fabrics for a quick visit, as it's virtually between Tessuti and central.------ Sydney, Australia |

Date: 7/7/06 9:40 PM Just quickly, as I'm out of town at present. I haven't had a chance to read all the thread, but I'm happy to drive ... will be much easier than public transport.

Date: 7/12/06 8:21 PM Hi,
I'm just confirming that the shopping trip is going ahead... I've been away, but am now back and that it's still 10.30am at Tesutti's Surry Hills.
Can I have an idea as to how many are going? I don't mind driving, but only have a small car (seats 4 Ok, 5 at a push ... including driver).

If you want to email me today at wendy_shoething at yahoo-dot-com (you'll need to replace the " at " with an "@" and there is NO dot-au with that addy. I can email you my mobile number from that address. I don't have a computer at home so won't be able to access any emails after I leave work at 5.30 today.

Date: 7/14/06 0:06 AM Hi,
I am planning to come down. It looks like there is no track work so I should be into central by about 10:10 and it will take me 15 mins or so to walk around to tessuti. I have to be on the train back by 3:45 as I am planning to catch friends fo the night in Gosford. I am most keen to get to tessuti so anyway I will be happy.

Date: 7/14/06 0:42 AM Hi Georgie ... what a relief that there's no trackwork on that line. My sister lives in Gosford and never knowing if it'd be a bus the whole way or bus-train-bus or train, well quite frankly it's crazy making.
We can make sure you get back to central for your train.
