They seem to be clearing out tons of stuff at ROCK bottom prices. Like 50% and 75% off the last clearance price of a bunch of stuff.
You have to dig through lots of junk, but it's been pretty worth it at my two local stores lately.
Lots of stretchy print poly meshes and onionskins and what I think is buttermilk --Most of it for $1.25- $1.50 a yard after the discounts. Today, I paid $1.50 a yard for some pretty nice, 100% cotton tight rib knit in charcoal grey.

Saturday when I was there, I picked up several things that they were formerly selling as "fashion" fabrics that will make really nice linings for various woven and knit projects--some rayon blends, some cotton/nylon blends, and a few really slippery, stretchy "actionwear" fabrics in poly-lycra blends--perfect for under those meshes that are otherwise too obscene to wear publicly.

Today through Labor Day on Monday all notions at Hancock's are 50% off. I'm heading out to my local store tomorrow to stock up on Wonder Tape and other goodies. Also the website is offering 5 yards of any fabric for 40% off. I bought some of my favorite sporty mock mesh polyester.

*sigh* I wish we had a hancocks close by but I think the closest is like 70 miles away. We have a joAnns pretty close... only 30 miles... As is, I usually have to suffer with our horrible walmart unless I can convince someone to go to Dallas with me. How I hate that drive by my lonesome.

Now I'm irritated...I LOOKED at the Wonder Tape on the notions wall and decided to wait until a sale...I didn't bother to look at my flyer before I left (OK....I couldn't FIND it) so I would have known to ask. Now, I'll have to go back...what a shame! I was so proud of myself for getting out of there with only $11.00 worth of fabric and 3 McCall's patterns, too.

The online store flyer says Thursday, Aug 31- Monday, Sept 4.
I'm so glad to see the fleece is also on sale. Here in HOUSTON we have waiting on pins and needles for a fleece sale!

I wonder if that's all the stock that they moved out of the stores that closed?

I haven't noticed a great sale at the neighborhood Hancock's, although a friend mentioned that the one on the other side of town had a big sale table...maybe worth a drive up the parkway...

Well it's sure not "my" Hancocks! The one here is so worthless (unless you make fleece sweaters and quilts and buy by the mile) that I rarely go there.

Sigh. I'm still waiting for the fabric store with the Cutting Table Cabana Boys and free gas...

The ones here are generally useless, too. Only about 1/4 of the stores are "fashion" fabrics--and none of those are high end. Most of the stuff on the gigantic sale tables IS icky. But, if you are looking for stuff for linings, undies, and fast little knit things you can't beat the prices. And, there is the occasional great suprise--like a nice rib knit in charcoal grey for $1.50 yd. What they are unloading are all the spring/summer prints, knits, crinkle rayons and suitings, various "ethnic" prints and tie dyes....and some ultra suede and velour and panne velvets from last winter. Everything that has been on the $2.95-$4.95 markdown shelves/tables for the past month or two is now another 50% - 75% off.

I think what my stores got from the closed stores was quilting and FLEECE--both sections have expanded vertically so that they now tower over my head...and I saw new bolts of Christmas and Thanksgiving and Halloween stuff (Plus, unfortunately, lots of "pilgrim" and "turkey" Tchotchkes) waiting in carts to be put out.

Home dec has gotten a lot bigger, too... But that actually makes sense here. And, their home dec stuff is actually OK. Some of it is even really nice. I never see people buying fleece or even much quilting stuff in the Chicago stores, but home dec stuff is REALLY big.

Our local Hancock's always has a great sale table - I've gotten quite a few pieces there. Today I got my list together of things needed and will head over to my local HF on Monday and see what I can find. As for high fashion, there is some, and of course the quilting fabrics, but I've used some of that for pillowcases, etc. Their home dec fabrics are nice so I always check them out, along with the home dec sale table, also pretty good. Have fun! I found a cute sweater knit to make a bolero for DGD and got it for $1.
