This would be my list (more or less) The Built-In Needle Threader really isn't as crucial as my list would indicate but now that I have a machine (Janome MC9000) that has one and my eyes (even with glasses) aren't what they used to be, it sure is helpful. ------ ~Kathy

Date: 10/25/06 5:29 PM Three-way tie on these features below. The rest are usually standard or nonessential for my sewing:
* Needle Up/Down
* Needle Positions
* Fully adjustible stitch width for zig zags (not mentioned on your list, but it's #1 on mine.
*...and a reverse button ***NEAR*** the needle/head area. But I've never seen a sewing machine without some sort of reverse button or lever. |

Date: 10/25/06 10:00 PM Quote: Doris W. in Tennessee But I've never seen a sewing machine without some sort of reverse button or lever. Oh my, you should come visit my sewing room! Most of my machines sew straight, and forward, and that's it! But they do it very well. (Hint - they are black, cast iron, and much older than I am.)
I've been sewing some on other people's machines lately, as well as my own favourites, and at the top of my list of desirable features is:
*Sews at full speed with NO VIBRATION.
