2007 is about 8 weeks away. Would anyone like to join me for a stash/UFO sew-along between now and New Year's Day?

I can't be the only one who has the following:
- Unfinished sewing projects
- Fabric/notions/supplies for Christmas gifts that were never finished (or started!)
- A stash of fabric and unopened patterns for executing all of my brilliant ideas

I've had some of the same unfinished projects hanging around for years...literally! My unhemmed curtains have been hanging in my dining room since 2002.

I've also had the same ideas for gifts for several Christmases in a row now and I haven't managed to make them happen.

Who else wants to tackle UFOs and stash so we (and our loved ones) can enjoy our finished projects in the new year? We can encourage each other.

Even if you only make one gift, finish one UFO, or use one piece of stashed fabric, think of how good it will feel.

Who's with me?

I'm with you. I have so many projects stacked on my desk I can hardly use the desk. I would love to get several of them done so I can give them away as Christmas gifts.

Ok, I'm in. I have a Christmas stocking that I need to get done. It's only sat there for maybe... 5 years?? Everyone else got their's done except me.

I have a few mending UFOs and some other projects that need to be finished that are eating at me.

Then a stash of good intentions and brilliant ideas too. One of which was to not buy more yardge than I sewed this year. I'm upside down WAAYYYY more than a bit, more than I want to admit to anyone at the moment. But I have a chart on the wall and have been working on it. I did get some of the Halloween flannel sewed up from last years after Halloween clearance!

So, should we make a list so we can be focused? Or just dive right in? Some of my good intentions are being held up by stalled fitting sessions. So many great ideas...so little time.

I'll join you guys. I don't have any UFO or unfinished Christmas projects, but I am way behind on my stash reduction goals for this year. Eight weeks will fly fast. I would like to sew up 1 thing every week or so. This will amount to about 9 yds of stash. So, my goal will be sewing up 9 yds by January 1st.

------
Fabric bought in 2009: 30 yds
Fabrc sewn in 2009: 19 yds
Fabric stash: 145 yds

3 Garments IN and 6 Garments OUT

This reminds me of a thread I participated in early this year about holiday sewing. I believe it was started in Jan or Feb when we all had good intentions.

For myself, I said I would complete a Christmas tree skirt in time for the holidays. Sadly, I have not given it another thought since then...

So, a bit more realistic about where sewing fits into my priorities (relatively low) I will pass this time. But I wish everyone luck who signs up!

I'm in and will focus on clearing out the UFOs.....I have done a good job of minimizing the stash this year, but the UFOs are crawling out of the closet. I have 2 blouses for me (that really don't fit, but they will fit someone) a handful of dog coats (a great gift idea), a garment bag and .... the winner is a half finished girls corduroy jacket that I started when my daughter was about 12...she is now 25! I'd rather finish these things and give them away than just let them sit any longer.

------
2012 : starting stash 386, net additions 206, used 164, ending stash 428...I'm never going to get in front of this pile of fabric!

I have one project to finish up - but my deadline is Thanksgiving so I can give it then. Good motivation. Thanks.

I have several UFOs and several things that I've been wanting to sew, soo, count me in! :-)

I don't know what I'm going to work on first, but I'm going to sew something this weekend, even if it's just a few cloth napkins.

From what others have said, the nasty message came from Fitting Woes, NOT Misc Hot Topics or the Civility thread.

I'll join in too! First there's the jacket that needs to have the sleeves reset, then there's the drapes that have been hanging for a few months but drag the floor (oh well, at least they're up).

My biggest need is stash reduction and I'm about to start a casual-clothes sewing binge. My lounging and working around the house clothes are falling apart so it's time to make some replacements. Plus several other items I'm determined to make from my stash. This will be great incentive.

How timely to bring this up now. I have sewn so little this year, and finished almost none of my UFOs. In fact, I think I have three 'new' ones, maybe more, that I added this year.

I had just decided this morning that I was going to sew something, anything, just to get back in the groove. So I traced off my latest pattern purchase, Simplicity 4076, cut it out of the latest fabric acquisition and have it about half finished already. Oh, I'm doing the gathered neckline view with long sleeves.

The fabric is a thin pointelle jersey (poly) in variegated pastels, and not at all suitable for winter. But guess what? I don't care! It's sewing progress! I also decided not to worry about sewing the 'new' stuff before I sewed up the 'old' stuff. There's so much fabric in my stash and so many UFOs that I just want to do something that brings me pleasure, and this top fit the bill.

I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow morning and then I promise a picture and review will follow!
