The felted wool green/off white jacket in the new Threads is haunting me big time.  So, I'm looking for fabric for this project.  Do any of you fabric mavens know of an on-line site that carries wool knits?  Also if anyone has done this technique I'm open to any suggestions and info.

Sandra,  I'm with you on those felted wool jackets!  They are so inspiring.  I've been looking online too, but haven't found anything yet. Not that I could actually wear that in Florida, but that has never stopped me from making something before.......... :D

I was going to work on making one of those jackets.  I have some knitted wool I got a while back from "G STreet" I also ordered some eggplant colored wool from fabric.mart..

Cindy, it's all about the look, so you might be a tad warm in Florida in a felted jacket.

Thanks for the FabricMart info Linda eggplant wool knit is a good thing.    I see that fabric.com has several colors in merino knit too .

The draw back to the Fabric.com 's merino knits is that they are not 100 %  wool and to get the felting to work and look good I believe you need 100% knit wool.

Linda, good point on all the merino on fabric.com not being 100% wool.  I just looked thru them and some are definitely blends.

The search goes on.

Checkout Linda Macphee's website she has 100 % wool knit.  it may be high considering you need alot to have a enough for a jacket like in Threads.

Yup, merino is what you want.  I scrounged the thrift stores for wool sweaters to felt for potholders, and found that the very best felt came from pure merino models.  There really was no comparison.
