Date: 11/20/06 9:28 AM I have taken up felting and I'm loving it! I started off buying a single needle and a Clover Felting Kit for fun and have decided that I need to buy a felting machine. It's down to two...BL Embellisher (used since I can't afford a new one), or a Nancy's Notions Fab Felter (which is less powerful). I really want an Embellisher but I don't think I can afford to pay more that $200.00 shipped for it and won't have the money until Christmas (getting lots of cash this year!!).
Does anyone else felt. I would love to see examples of your work.

Date: 11/20/06 12:04 PM I felt, but mostly wet felting as opposed to needle felting. I'd like to work on nuno or laminate felting so I can make yardage that is light enough for clothing.
Some nuno leaves

Date: 11/20/06 5:10 PM Wow, those leaves are gorgeous!! Do you sew them onto garments or something after you felt them?
I am dry felting of course and just add roving, yarn, or felt by needle punch to cloths I have made. I am really getting into it big time. I made a really great bag for my Aunt today. I added it to my website.

Date: 11/20/06 10:16 PM Nikki, love those leaves and the purse! I have recently purchased a needle felting punch from Nancy's Notions. I used it to decorate a skirt for my daughter. I have visions of making myself a jacket and decorating it with some wool felthed onto it. Of course this is still very much in the dreams rightnow, but I have all the materials. That mean's something, doesn't it? ;-)

Date: 11/21/06 10:20 AM Beautiful!! I hope to next year do some felting on a wool jacket for myself for winter. I just don't have the time this year with all the projects I already have in mind. You inspire me!! |

Date: 11/21/06 12:44 PM Thanks so much for comments. I have just been informed that I may be able to purchase my Embellisher sooner than I thought. I look forward to getting my hands on it.

Date: 11/21/06 7:38 PM I just got some gorgeous wool roving and some felting needles from an eBay seller and have been playing around with it. It's really fun and I'm imagining embellishing this wool cape (that I'm also imagining but haven't actually made yet ) |

Sharon Costello's Featherweight Felt DVD has 5 ways to make lightweight felt scarves. I would like to try some of the techniques to make a shawl. Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere in the house I can felt that large of a piece so it will have to wait until spring when my print table can go back outside.

Date: 11/22/06 11:24 AM I reviewed the Embellisher here. There's a link in it to some photos of my projects. I think you'll really like this machine. It's great fun!
