Date: 12/2/06 7:58 PM Hello
I have also posted a message looking for heavy duty machine recommendations. One suggestion I have gotten was from a sewing machine store owner who thought that the Thompson Mini Walker (PWZ500?) might be what I'm looking for. Has anyone ever used one of these or heard anything about them? There aren't any reviews on this site yet.
Thanks,

Date: 12/2/06 9:17 PM Diana, Sorry I can't tell you anything about the Thompson machine but you might want to check out Sailrite and Consew mini walkers on line and maybe there are reviews for them. They are available brand new at good prices on line for around $400. Consew also has the larger industrial moldels of course.
I was looking into these small industruals about a year ago from on line dealers but I have never used one. There is one more brand that I cannot remember the name of at present but it was not expensive either and these little machines did not require separate motors or tables. |

Date: 12/5/06 11:26 AM Diane, we have been using a Thompson MiniWalker to make custom teddy bears for over 6 years. We have sewn long and short pile faux fur and real fur/leather as well as other heavy fabrics. It has worked wonderfully. The only problem we have had is that the rheostat in the foot control has had to be replaced twice.

Date: 10/19/07 11:02 AM I just picked up A Thompson mini-walker sewing machine (PW200 earlier version of the PW500)) at the Salvation Army thrift store yesterday. It uses 135x17 needles, which I don't happen to have So, once I pick up some needles and clean & oil her up, I will take it for a spin and perhaps review it on PR.
These are supposed to be essentially the same machine as the Consew and Sailrite mini walkers. I also hear that they come out of the same factory in Taiwan. They sure all look the same.
It also looks like it will fit right into one of my vintage Singer cabinets.
Soooo excited! A new and different toy to explore! |

Date: 10/19/07 5:00 PM I'll be very interested to read a review from you, Jenny. A guy I work with is very interested in one of these type machines to make sport jumping parachute gear with, such as the bags, packing mats, and so on. Hope to read it soon!

Date: 8/7/11 7:22 PM Looks like you posted this in 2005 so I'm wondering what you decided? I am looking at a Thompson mini walker now but want some feed back on someone who has used one. |

Date: 9/9/11 0:23 AM hi Dianaz,
I am also researching the thomson mini-walker vs. sailrite LSZ-1 models. I found this link about the thomson. It sounds like the mini-walker won't fit my needs, but just wanted to post this fyi...hope it helps!
