3/4/2008 Contest results -- Jan/Feb 2008 Stash Reduction Contest
1919.51 yards, 1186 items, 236 entrants, 119 who posted an item.
Greetings Fellow Stashers!
Here is the topic for one of the first contests of 2007. Many of us will be resolving to reduce our stash in 2007 and this contest is the perfect way to start off on the right foot.
Now, this contest officially begins 1/1/2007 and ends 2/28/2007 - unless this is a leap year, in which case it would end 2/29/2007. BUT! 1/1/2007 is a Monday, which means some of us may be gazing longingly at our stash Saturday and Sunday, just itching to get started. So, unless I get a lot of negative feedback, I think I'd like to give us all two 'free' days and let us all count anything and everything started on 12/30 or 12/31 as well.
If there are any objections to this, please let me know by either posting here or sending me a message. If I get a lot of noes to this idea, I will post here before Saturday, 12/30.
Meanwhile I will look over the rules and see if there are any other changes I think need to be made.
So for the next few days, tidy up, make a plan, order or buy the missing 'ingredients' and get it all organized! We'll beat the winter doldrums by sewing up a storm!
Edit To Add - Yes, you may cut out or trace off your patterns any time prior to the beginning of the contest.
No, you may not cut out any fabric prior to 12/30.

Edited to add additional information on 1/2/2006 by Rhonda.
As the thread gets longer it will become more difficult to find the information I've posted. I'll add info to this post - at least until it gets too long.
As an FYI, I work 8-5 M-F, but unlike most of you I am locked out of any site that has bulletin boards while at work. Responses to questions and corrections to the contest entries will have to be done in the evenings, and if you post later in the evening than I am up (I am Eastern Time), your question/correction may not be responded to until the following day.
ENTERING THE CONTEST: On the left side of the page, go nearly to the bottom to the section titled Sewing Contests. Click on the Enter Contests link and complete the box that comes up. Be sure to click on the contest you wish to enter as more than one contest at a time may be running.
You may enter the contest at any time up to and including the last day of the contest. You may enter any and all qualified items sewn from 12/30/2006 to the day you enter the contest. So, if you sew 8 stash yards on January 13, and enter the contest on February 1, you may still enter those 8 stash yards sewn on January 13.
ENTERING ITEMS: You must do a review for each entry, but you do not need to include a photograph. Items are entered into the contest report by a clickable link at the top of the contest report - not from your review!
POINTS: The contest report template is one that is used for all contests, and previous contests had different scoring systems. For this contest, you may enter the number of points based on the full yards you used in your project/item. As your partial yards add up I will edit your points to reflect your total yardage. This contest will be based strictly on total yardage sewn without regard to number of items.
CORRECTIONS: In the unlikely event of a boo-boo, you may post a message on the boards or send me a private message and I will correct or assist with the issue as soon as possible.
YOUR PERSONAL STASH: Does not matter. Well, not for this contest anyway! All that counts is how many yards you sew up, of the fabric was in your possession prior to 12/30/2006.

More edits 1/8/2007
POINTS AGAIN: If you enter incorrect YARDAGE in an entry, please let me know so I may correct it, but if you enter incorrect points (e.g., you sew three yards, one item and enter 1 point) I will correct that in my daily 'clean-up' so you don't need to email or post about it here - unless you see that I missed something.

Rhonda, thanks for managing this contest! I plan on joining to motivate me to sew up a few yards of stash. I'll be working on some wardrobe items, as well as some Home Dec items, if they qualify (they would be from stash).
I think starting on Sat. 12/30 is a great idea, especially since this February isn't a leap year. It won't help me much since the kids will be home from school, and that basically means a no sew time, but I'm sure it will be good for others! :)
I'm so excited that I'll have to start rummaging through my stash to see if I can come up with a plan!

WooHoo!! I'm looking forward to this one! I still have things planned from the SWAP that just ended, but the fabrics have been waiting for at least 2 years now. Going to try and get through them. They way I see it, the sooner I am through the fabric stash, I can start building a NEW fabric stash .

This sounds like a great idea - I really stashed it up this fall, so I need to get some more things made or my fabric storage drawers will explode!

I think it's a great idea to start on the weekend. I'll have to try and fit in a bit of tracing and prepping. I could do with this contest being repeated every other month - the stash has multiplied and is taking over the house. DH says it reminds him of "The Blob"

This is my favorite contest. My fabric stash has outgrown the sewing room and has begun to encroach on the guest room now.

I'm hoping to reduce my fleece stash with this competition. I can't wait!

I need this contest! We'll be moving during the summer (if all goes well) and I have a goodly portion of a walk-in closet filled with my stash. Eek! I'd rather move it as clothes or have given it away as gifts before then.

You all inspire me. I know better than to commit to anything like this, but I will be with you in spirit and will make my best efforts to reduce my own stash along with you.

I'm in on this! I have a bunch of birthdays in January and I have to sew regardless of a contest or not. I was planning on it all coming from my stash regardless. This will give me the motivation so that some of these planned stash reductions will not become a permanent part of my storage again this year.
I just need a couple of days to recuperate after the Christmas sewing push and I will be ready to go again.
