Date: 2/5/07 9:22 AM I'm in the 350e club! I ordered my machine yesterday during the Super Bowl Sale at my local dealer. It should be here soon. I am not a total newbe to embroidery. I have a 7570 but the embroidery on that is about 11 years old now. Love the sewing machine but wanted to update embroidery capabilities.
I have learned so much on the Coverpro thread, I thought it would be nice to start one here for the embroidery machines. Lots of info in the reviews on these machines but its a little harder to find.
Janome 350E Info from Janome Website
There is also a PDF file on this page showing the designs that come on the machine.
PDF of Designs
Okay, all you "pros" please share your knowledge!!!!
ETA: We need to add the 9500 and 9700 embroiderers! Ody said that is the same unit as the 300 and 350e for the embroidery part.

ETA: For users of Embird, AK provided the following information on hoops:
The standard hoops are listed in Embird as Janome 10000 126x110 and Janome 10000 140x200. If you have the free arm hoop, that's the Janome 10000 50x50. The Janome GigaHoop is 230x200.

Date: 2/6/07 9:36 AM Hello,
I am going today to by my Janomy 350e. I am really excited, but I do not know anything about download designs from the internet. Where do I start??? What site would you recommend?? Will I need software before I can download, if so, what kind of soft ware is out there. I too have a Pfaff 7570 and I am considering selling it. |

Date: 2/6/07 10:18 AM Hi Ladies,
To find embroidery designs on the net type Free Embroidery Designs into your browser. Some good sites are:
Suebox, Miakay, Hatched in Africa.
These ones have good quality designs.
Probably one of the most important things you can do is to file your designs on your computer so that you can find them again. If you make a folder in your C Drive and call it Embroidery Album, then save everything in there, when you want to find it, you will know where to look. Perhaps with further folders of design types, or the name of the company ie Sue Box. (I know plenty of people who save things whereever the computer puts them, and then have no idea where to look for them!)
The 350E reads Jef designs, so when you are downloading get the Jef version of whatever design you want.
You can download things onto your computer, and if you format a card or USB drive in your new sewing machine (it comes under the setting tab, a couple of pages in), you can put the designs onto your ATAPC card or USB drive without any other software, just using Windows Explorer. The trouble is, that without software you can't see what the designs look like. So if you have saved 16 butterflies, you won't know which is which until you get it to the sewing machine.
I may forget to come back to this thread, so if you want to PM me to ask questions feel free!

Date: 2/6/07 10:24 AM I don't think mine will be here until next week. Have fun playing! I do have Embird and upgraded to the latest edition this morning. I'm going to spend some time getting familiar with it - haven't done much embroidery lately but hope some of this will come back to me. If you sell your 7570, do you have another machine to sew on.
There is also a yahoo group on these machines that I have joined. ------ www.thereisjoyadventures.blogspot.com |

Date: 2/6/07 10:37 AM This machine is on my dream list, but I have to ask....about what $$ did you pay? Do you know what the retail price is? I know it usually varies some by region and I know our local dealer usually charges full retail, but I haven't gone in yet to ask what it is.

Date: 2/6/07 10:53 AM JenSews,
In Aust the 350E is selling for $1699 (about $1275 US) and the 300E for $1299 (about $975 US).
They usually come with some bonuses here, and try to find out if your dealer has anyone who is pretty good with the software. Where I work we all have embroidery machines and love them, so we can usually sort out problems (once we understand what the problems are!) but we end up with lots of country customer from elsewhere on the phone because their local dealers aren't up to speed.
Most important, play with the machine, and see if there is a club of people with them in the area.

Date: 2/6/07 11:10 AM Jen, not sure but I think the MSRP is $1549. Honestly, I just went in to look but my dealer had it on sale for $1084 plus 30% off of accessories. I bought the 350e, clothsetter and smallest hoop. Of course, our sales tax is 8.25 so you have to add that. Couldn't turn that down. Looking at the reviews here on PR it seems like around$1200 is average. ------ www.thereisjoyadventures.blogspot.com |

Date: 2/6/07 11:51 AM Where I live the dealer has the machine for $1275 but there is a sale this week and he is selling it for $1175. I do not think that he will throw in any extras but I will still buy it. I have a Kenmore 19233 that I just bought on Saturday to replace the Pfaff. I really, really love my Pfaff but I am limited with the embroidery options. I am considering selling just the embroidery potion and keeping the machine. But, I am definitely buying the 350e today.
How much did the Embird software cost?? Did you buy it online?? |

Date: 2/6/07 11:55 AM I bought Embird online - actually I had an older version and did an upgrade for $45. New, I think it is $129. I would like to add the Fonts but hope someone else here has them and can let us know how they like them. ------ www.thereisjoyadventures.blogspot.com |
