I was driving and saw a Mood Designer Fabric sign at a store near the corner of Pico and La Cienega. Unfortunately I was not able to stop and peek. Has anyone been there and seen how it is inside? The website does have the LA store listed, I hope that means it's open. If you're lucky enough to see it, please report back.

Also on the opposite block, there's a store with the name "Silk Trading Company." Dare I hope for more yummy fabric??

Have to thank my daughter's friend's b-day party for my side trip discovery. :)

I know that area moderately well, it's on my way to F&S.
These stores are NEW!

Thanks. I will have to go check them out.

I visited LA last week and accidently ran across this store. The people working there (with the exception of one) are all from the NY store and very knowledgeable about the fabric. When a fabric's price wasn't marked they phoned the NY store and got the info in minutes.

The store is filled to the brim with fabric, but as of last week they don't have trim, notions, or patterns. They will be getting them, but not yet.

My DH took pics so maybe I can post them later. Jeanette

Silk Trading Company has been in LA for many years (at least since 1990's)...they were originally on LaBrea across from the LaBrea Bread place. Somewhere in my archives I have an article about how they founded STC. I think it started in LA, then they opened in other cities. In NYC, they have a floor at ABC carpet and home, so they subcontract space in some larger stores.

Interesting that Mood comes to LA. I think there is a great opportunity there.

I miss the days of Left Bank Fabrics and most recently, miss Florence Fabrics in Torrence. I still have fabrics from Elegance Fabrics also.

The "garment district" in LA is not always the best in quality, but fun for occasional bolt diving.

I moved several years ago, but used to love spending my weekends drifting from one fine fabric store to another.

Now there's a Mood near F&S???? I'm in serious trouble now... I can do enough damage in F&S alone and avoid the garment district for fear my SUV will overflow...

Mood has an updated website and I did notice that they had opened up an L.A. store. Watch out, L.A sewists! That store is such a downfall for my budget...I want everything in it!
