We're back... after 2 and half days of blast in NYC! The weather gods were happy with us. We had two perfect days of good weather in the city and walked about 10 miles (well a little more) in 2 days. And mind you with loads of fabric bags!
When I entered the hotel on Friday morning most of you were there and instantly it was like I know everyone! We were comfortable from the first moment. And neither of us knew how much fun was in store for us. We were all excited and fired up!
We didn't waste any time and headed straight for the garment district. Most of the stores gave us generous discounts and were very courteous. I like that!
Lou will correct me if I am wrong but we bought over 380 yards of fabric in just two days. Oh yeah.. we kept a running total after each shop we visited...
Friday night dinner - We proudly got dressed in our outfits we made lovingly for the PR Weekend ready to rock the world... ok well atleast the Moroccan Restaurant we were going to.
Food was delicious and of course the hightlight of the evening was the belly dancer who was joined later on by Elizabeth and Georgene ;-)
Both days we didn't sleep before 2 and got up early to hit the stores again on Saturday. Despite the chilly weather we managed to add quite a few yards to our already overflowing stashes. And well the closeout sales didn't help either.
Saturday night - Time for the Pajama party. The Hotel gave us their conference room for the evening and well I bet nobody had ever been in a conference room in their Pajamas!!!!!
It was a blast. We ordered Pizza, had champagne... and the gift swap. The highlight of the party was the measuring session we had based on Barbara Emodi's article in the Threads magazine. Thanks to threads magazine we each had our own copy. I dont know how much measuring got done but WE HAD A BLAST!!! Well I did come back with my complete set of measurements thanks to MaryT which will really help me fit some of my challenging patterns.
Sunday morning - Good bye time. Not so much because we were already planning for the PR Weekend 2004!
Can I just say how much I enjoyed myself with all of you? I can't remember the last time I had such an enjoyable weekend. Mary, I am still laughing at the measuring we did... Lou you'd better send the photos to me fast! Loved hunting for onionskin with you and having a blast at Spandex House. Georgene, I was serious when I said I had hidden cameras at the Morroccan restaurant ;-) Love that belt by the way. Now you know what to get me for my b'day ;-) Just kiddin. MaryBeth you did manage to get everyone drunk ;-) The fun late night talks with Alex and Nikki (my room mates). Oh and by the way Lou, MaryT and Michelle I loved making those slips for the game we never played. Maybe next year... I still can't believe how much fabric Jackie bought in a DAY! She had so much fabric that even though she was going to go back on Sat. She had to get a room for the night and leave the next day and I am glad she did!!!! Talk about fabric... Lou, Little Shell and Nikki had to BUY more luggage to take their newly acquired stash back. And Amanda... thanks for joining us and taking us around the district for more fabric shopping. Amanda and I ended up buying the SAME fabric in ALL the stores.
Thanks to you all for making my dream a reality. Thanks for joining me in celebrating the second anniversay of PatternReview and thanks for sharing the Love of Sewing! Even though some of you didn't make it to the PR weekend, you were always with us. Tini was in our thoughts and so was Megan Elizabeth - Mel's daughter.
PR Weekend was nothing but a bunch of crazy sewers getting together and having fun. Let's do it again next year!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL!

Sounds wonderful! Can't wait to see pictures...

What a blast of a weekend you all have had! And 380 yards of fabric! That's a lot, but how fun. Everyone will be sewing like mad to show it all off. Can't wait to see what everyone bought and what it's made up into.

Sounds like everyone had a great time. I can see Elizabeth joining the belly dancer (presuming I am thinking of the right Elizabeth). I want to see pictures of Georgene, though!
Wow, you folks really helped the economy this weekend. Look forward to seeing some pictures of what fabric you bought & what you make with it.
With a great wardrobe that's still in the flat-fabric stage.

I second everything Deepika said. I am so tired. But I could've stayed for another 3 days.
The total was around 380 yards, with the majority of that being on Saturday....I will give excact numbers later.
My fabric is prewashed, so reviews should be in by the weekend :-)

I'm so mad that I couldn't join you all! Next year for sure - I will plan for it. Today is our anniversary (19 years! ) so this weekend was our Anniversary Extravaganza Weekend! Yes, we had a good time - way too much good food and way too many martinis. And, of course, not enough sewing!
It sounds like you all had a wonderful, wonderful time! I can't wait to see reviews of garments you make with your new fabrics. :-)
Deepika, did Mel have her baby early? I hate it when I miss things.

So happy you guys all had a great time. So disappointed I couldn't make it, but next year definitely!!! I consoled myself by starting the Athena dress from La Fred in a scrumptious eggplant-colored stretch velvet from Spandex House. Shoudl be done and reviewed today or tomorrow. I can't wait!
Gigi, congratulations on your anniversary!! My 19th will be June 1 next year. I can't believe it's that long ago - the time has flown!
And congrats to Mel. I didn't even realize she was expecting (my duh).
