Date: 3/30/07 11:07 PM I'm a sucker for a deal, as long is it's a useful one.
I saw this presser foot package on clearance at hsn.com and wondered if they would work on my Janome 8080.
I just got a Janome serger and saw the serger pack also.
Does anyone know about this at all? I figure for around $20 total for 12 feet I just might try them. I'm particularly interested in the ruffler and teflon feet.
Thanks! -- Edited on 3/31/07 12:26 PM -- |

Date: 3/31/07 6:52 AM I just bought the serger pack for my Kenmore serger. They look like a generic serger foot. I figure for 11.00 it is worth the risk. when they get here I'll let you know if they work.
The machine feet look like generic low shank feet. The ruffler is worth the whole set. You can always return them. |

Date: 3/31/07 10:48 AM I just learned something interesting. I called my wonderful tech at my dealer and asked him. I was thinking that the Euro-pro might be a Janome made machine bc they are the largest manufacturer in the world, but about third on the list for name machines. They make a lot of other brands machines for them.
In any event, Mark told me that all of the Janome feet have an "A" on the underside of the feet.
That does not mean that these feet would not fit your 8080. Two of the attatchments look like ankles that you attatch the feet to, and the ruffler needs to match low shank or high shank. Beyond that, just the clip on feet at about $10 each are worth the package, so I would hop on it if I were you.
I love using different feet for my machine and even use the screw on type a lot when doing heavier sewing. ------ "Sewing should be fun; make it that way!" Margaret Islander

Date: 3/31/07 12:30 PM Thanks! I ordered the sewing machine feet. I noticed a different set of serger feet and didn't know the difference, so I'm going to wait on the serger feet. I've only opened the box on my serger and never even used it yet.

Date: 4/5/07 5:54 AM The Euro-pro serger feet came. They DO NOT work on my Kenmore. They clip on, plenty of needle clearance, and well made, but they don't cover the far left side of the feed dogs so the fabrics won't feed evenly. I tried everyone of them all with the same result of crooked feeding. No needle breaks though - Whew!
I'll hold onto them, unless someone wants them. I might come across a good deal on a used Euro-Pro serger. I'd return them but I'd only get a store credit and I rarely shop at HSN. |

Date: 4/5/07 11:20 PM Newer Janome "sewing machines", and Janome made Kenmore machines with the horizontal bobbin, now have the 7 piece feed dogs and wider stitches than older models or some of the vertical type bobbin machines. (some Kenmores and Janome's have vertical bobbins). Regular generic feet usually will not work on the 7 pc. feed. machines. The feet for these machines are usually wider. Sears sell the feet as to the type of bobbin if vertical or horizontal. Janome dealers would have them and maybe Elna dealers might also have the feet because Janome also makes some Elna's but I don't know if the Elna's also have the 7 pc feed.
Janome makes Kenmore sergers so you might try Sears website for the Kenmore serger feet. -- Edited on 4/5/07 11:24 PM -- |

Date: 4/9/07 5:09 PM Nope, they did not work on my Janome 8080.
I'm glad I just tried the sewing machine feet and not the serger feet, too!
I'm taking my machine in to the shop for cleaning soon, I'll see how much feet cost there for future reference... |

Not even the ruffler? Were the presser feet too small for the Janome feed dogs? Or did the shank adapters not fit? -- Edited on 4/9/07 8:58 PM -- |
