I know a lot of people are working on the SWAP contest. I love reading about what they are doing, but doing a major SWAP is not for me. I'm more interested in jumping from one project to another-and most likely no relationship between them.
I just reviewed 5 items I recently made. I've been doing a lot of sewing lately. Some things turned out good & some not so good. When they don't turn out good, I look at it as a learning experience. I tried this jacket, but it was a wadder. I made a sz 12/14 (my usual size) but it's too full & loose. I also used a fabric that didn't work-too stick so it was hard to gather. But I may try it again as I like the look

right at the moment i am working on keeping my sewing room clean. i worked on it for four hours on thursday night, and it looks really good. (comparatively speaking) i am trying really hard not to get busy sewing anything because i am hoping that my new beau will come by tonight and i want him to see that this room doesn't always look like someone picked it up and shook it.

i picked up a yard of silk dupioni from the joann's remnant sale yesterday. it is from the bridal stuff, white with little sparkles about every 2 1/2 inches. regular price is $29.99, i got it for $7.50 i plan to make a sleeveless blouse from it. that will most likely be my next project.

I often resemble that comment. I am trying to work on more organized sewing as I have few spring/summer clothes that are my current size.

I am 1/2 way done with a dress from a chambray looking material. The dress is my own pattern, round neck, buttons to waist, short sleeves, waist is between 'regular' and empire with a mid or lower calf skirt (length not yet determined). I hope to finish it today between reorganizing the living room (aka weaving studio) and dining room (aka sewing room) to make room for a new loom.

I have some ivory silk dupioni to make a shawl, originally I was going to dye the material but now I am thinking I will do some machine embroidery and possibly a beaded fringe.

I would love to do a SWAP but its just not happening the next 3 months. I am working on a Burda WOF blouse - #119 from Aug. 05. Just doing a muslin now. Also, embroidering tote bags for future DIL.

okay . . . . not sew? what was i thinking? i just cannot do it.

i traced the pattern for the blouse. decided to do one with sleeves. this one view B. lengthened it by one inch and added just a tad at the waist, so i won't have to worry about the buttons pulling. cut out the interfacing.

soooo, by the time that fella gets here, i will probably have fabric and pattern and thread strewed all over the room.

i really don't have anything else to do. i spent all yesterday and today catching up on housework and laundry. i have vacuumed and mopped and dusted and cleaned the bathrooms. the dishes are all done. i have even pulled weeds out of the flower beds, done the grocery shopping and gave myself a manicure. and i just don't watch TV, unless i am doing something else with my hands, like hemming or pinning or beading. i suppose i could give myself a pedicure . . . .

That is a cute top; I like the neckline.
I am working on this sleeveless top
I really like my fabric & I like this style. The only problem is the neck is kind of wide, which causes it to slid down my shoulders & the armholes to gap. So I may have to wear a cami underneath.
I am also making a belt to wear with it. Without a belt, it is "maternity" look.

that is cute. i think a belt will be nice with that. what kind of fabric are you using? is your belt going to be the same fabric or something complimentary?

i was blessed with being pregnant back in the 70's when the "maternity look" was in style. those styles can camoflage a lot!

i got sidetracked. my brother came by to put in a little ramp on the front stoop. we already had one from the ground to the stoop. my mom is coming tomorrow and is hesitant about trying to lift her feet up the 4 inches needed to step into the house from the stoop. (i live with and care for my 81 year old mother. it is a full time job.) she fell getting into the shower about a month ago, was hospitalised for about a week, and then tranferred to a rehab facility. the medical "professionals" still have not come up with an explanation as to why she fell. her knee buckled under her.

Been there done that with the caregiver issues. Mom had to move here and lived her final years partly here, then in assisted living, then in a nursing home for only a few months. She passed in 1999 at age 84. It was rough between her and my mentally challenged daughter. Take care I know its not easy.

Ok, I've been sewing the last couple of weeks. Made a pair of shorts, 2 blouses, 2 nightgowns, 3 pair of panties, and 3 bras. I sewed one blouse that had been cut out for some time and really like it. Have 2 more cut out I need to sew and a pair of flannel pajama bottoms I ought to finish,,just hem and put in the elastic, don't see the top, its probably in there somewhere.

Next I'm going to make a pink and white striped blouse and pink shorts. I like my shorts 9 to 10 inches so am really in this year. Then I have a pretty white cotton with some tiny red fruit for a blouse with red shorts, same length. If I can get to them a green fabric for shorts and green and white checked blouse.

It's been raining and raining and my garden will need tilled and the lawn mowed again!

I have cleaned most of my house the last 2 days, just finished mopping and straigtening my sewing room. Had a twin bed in there from Christmas guests I just took down, need to put my other table back up in there. Also caught up my ironing today.

Hubby works overseas and is gone 8 weeks at a time but I always seem to be busy. He is due in the end of the month for a couple of weeks then back again.

I finished my top. I made the belt from the same fabric. It's a cotton print.

Next I'm starting on this jacket. My plan is a black linen jacket with white bands.

You have really been busy! I like your ideas for top & shorts. I wear my shorts long too; I like the "city" and "Bermuda" shorts. I would like to make me some, but I have trouble with fit on pants.
