Date: 6/24/07 3:16 AM I don’t want to be an enabler but……………………… I went to Wal Mart last night and they had just got in a ton of new fabrics and I walked out with 4 new ones to add to my out of hand stash but it was really nice stuff. In my local Wal Mart they were having a 2 day fabric sale in store advertising so I don’t know if this in all stores. The one with the woman’s face is a very nice butter soft knit and not see through like you would expect Wally fabric to be. This was just a really cool fabric and I had to have some. The black and white is 100% poly but the inside is so soft and the black and white stripes run diagonal so it will have the bias cut look The red is a very nice t-shirt weight I believe it has some lycra in it because it has two way stretch and great recovery I can’t wait to make a tunic out of it the black with little pink polka dots is poly also but feels like a nice satin I washed it just to see of it would go limp and it still has a very nice hand my daughter can’t wait for a summer dress out of it. What do you think of my finds?

Date: 6/24/07 7:16 PM I think it's terrific you were able to find cute fabric on sale at Walmart. In fact, you inspired me. This morning I went to Walmart and found some great $1 a yard knitted fabric that I'll use for muslins. I also bought a few zippers and other notions. ------ The essence of life is statistical improbability on a colossal scale.

Date: 6/24/07 8:38 PM I was there Friday night and scored some really cute Mickey Mouse fabric with a red background. It's new to my store, but there weren't any cool knits like you found nor was there a sale. |

Date: 6/24/07 9:09 PM I, too, have been scoring some great fabric there lately. In fact, I think I've used some of my $1 finds on 4 or 5 of my last projects! I've found slinky, nice swimwear-ish lycra/spandex, gauze, and open-weave knits all for $1/yd. I've learned to scoop up 4 or 5 bucks worth whenever I see a good one as the good stuff doesn't last long and, hey, it's FIVE BUCKS!!! You can barely get a Whopper w/cheese for that anymore!
DH has to be wondering why I've been frequenting Walmart weekly for various items as he knows I loathe that store in general. Hee! (Oh, and our Wmart sewing dept. people are actually friendly and polite...unlike pretty much anyone else in the store.)
The b&w stripe you got is exactly like my favorite silk gown that no longer fits except mine is a horizontal stripe. Now I'm nostalgic...guess I gotta stop in for some diapers tomorrow Anyway, great score!!! I'll be waiting for photos!!!

Date: 6/25/07 8:48 PM You are a lucky ducky. I used to walk by the knits pretty much but now I have a coverstitch machine and they seem to have disappeared from the cheapo tables. Most of my wardrobe comes from that $1 table. A grease stain or a muddy dog print or a wadder looks pretty much the same on that fabric and is loads cheaper. Perhaps I will try some better things if I ever get tnt patterns done but only a few. |

Date: 6/25/07 8:57 PM I thought they all got rid of the fabric departments. Were they removed and then brought back? Can you tell I'm not a Wallyworld shopper? ------ Visit my blog at http://sewingsaga.blogspot.com
