Date: 7/8/07 8:27 PM There seems to be a section in the German-language version of burdamode.com that offers patterns drafted to fit your measurements. Based on my poor German and online translators, it seems that you send in your body measurements and then they draft and print out a customized version of the pattern for you. Has anyone in Germany, or elsewhere in Europe, tried this? ------ I've moved! Visit my new sewing blog at http://chiralcraft.wordpress.com

Date: 7/9/07 3:40 AM I haven't tried them, but Queendom mentioned on this page of the Sewing in Germany thread that she was planning to do so. If she's already placed her order, perhaps she can tell you about her experience with them. |

Date: 7/9/07 5:34 AM I have tried the patterns and they are perfect! Just be sure to get the measurements done up very correctly! It helps to have a helper! I have a pants pattern that fits perfectly. You just have to do a little tweaking depending on the fabric you are using. The patterns aren't cheap, but you get your money's worth. Give it a try, I'm sure you won't regret it!!! |

Date: 7/9/07 8:58 AM I've wondered about this service for some while. Do you need a translator in the process of ordering? Anyone know? ------ 'Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.' Oscar Wilde |

Date: 7/9/07 9:42 AM A friend of mine tried them too. The measurements were taken by two professionals (a tailor and a pattern designer, if that's the correct word in English?), so we can assume, they were correct.
She bought severals ones but only tried the pants, so far. Because she always has big problems with fitting pants.
Well... she made a test garment that didn't fit at all. We tried to pin-fit it but failed. Then she sent photos of her in that poorly fitted pants to burda and got an altered pattern.
This one turned out better, but still is far from good. :-(
And we were not able to fix the remaining problems. at least not in one afternoon. Since then the project "pants" has been abandoned.
So our conclusion so far is, that if you really have a very "non standard" figure, those patterns maybe can not fix that ...
But the lady at burda was very friendly and gave a lots of advice, what might solve the problems with the first pattern.
Maybe when my friend has time to ask for the second version of the pattern again... there will be a solution. |
