Hello,

I lost a tried and true set of measurements and have had to start all over again, both alone and with the help of a generous but non-sewing buddy.  I recall once reading online instructions from someone on how to measure one's self but I can't recall even a little bit of them.

My main question is about the length of my shoulder and my shoulder slope.  Where does the shoulder end EXACTLY?  I've tried hanging the measuring and drawing a line, measuring from the base of my neck and just guessing.

And, in order to best judge my shoulder slopes, WHERE is my 'natural' waist anyway?  I've read that it's about an inch above the navel and also that it's the deepest indent when you bend sharply to the side.  Which is it really??

Thanks in advance!

msgadget, your shoulder ends at the little joint where the shoulder meets the arm.  If you raise and lower your arm you will be able to feel where it is.

The natural waist is different on different people - don't rely on your belly button to find it.  Simply bend at the waist to the side - the crease is your waist.

Gigi, thanks!  I knew...but I didn't know.     Everytime I got out the measuring tape I got a different number for my shoulder length because I kept picturing where I wanted my sleeve to begin...

Thanks again!
