Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here - it seems everytime I make a pair of pants - either for myself or anyone else the back waist tends to dip - figure I must be doing something wrong in stitching the crotch seams - can someone shed some light on this for me.
Thanks
Raggs

You probably have a sway back.  You might want to do a search of the messages to find the solution.  I'm sure it's been discussed here already.

How and where should I go to "do a search of the messages"?  I have a question about
elastic and shredding thread.  I hate it when I'm having a dense moment.

Silver, you can either use the search function for the message boards - found by clicking on the search button in the top right corner - or use the new knowledge base that is available from the PR home page, in a box right below the pattern reviews. Hope you find what you need!

Raggs, I don't think you are doing anything wrong; I think most patterns - and most RTW pants  - are incorrectly drafted for those of us who need more back length.  I always have to shorten the front and lengthen the back crotch seam for myself amd my daughter.  (Must be an inherited trait.)

There are a few ways to deal with the problem.  Easiest: cut wider seam allowances at the top of the pants so you can try them on and mark the correct position of the waistband.   Or you can slash the pattern horizontally from the center back seam to the side seam leaving a "hinge" of paper at the side seam edge.  Spread the pattern at the CB to create a wedge that is wider at the CB and tapers to nothing at the side seam.  My favorite method (after 30+ years of messing around with pants patterns) is in the tip I posted on PR some time ago.
PR Tip -  adjusting pants back

Maybe one of these methods, or a combination of them, will help.  But I'm sure you aren't stitching something incorrectly.  Too many of us deal with the same problem.
