I consider about taking part in the RTW knock off contest with a knock off of a Renee lezard coat, but I still have problems to figure out how to put the lining in the coat.
Luckily I found an older pattern from Patrones which has lines that are pretty similar to the Lezard coat. I had only to add a kick pleat in the lower center back seam and to make full length sleeves.
Here you can see the technical drawing of the Patrones pattern:
I'm making the muslin at the moment, but I'm still not sure how I can join the outer fabric and the lining in the real coat.
My big problem is the added kick pleat in the lower center back seam.
I have only one idea to put the lining in. I thought, I could hem the coat and the lining separately and join them with french tacks only. If I used this method, I would have no problems with the kick pleat.
I don't like the above method too much on knee length coats, but I have no idea how I can join the lining and the outer fabric at the hem, especially at the kick pleat.
Good ideas are really appreciated!
