Subject: Detroit Metro Area Date: 2/4/08 3:01 PM

I recently attended the Annual Sewing Retreat Benefit at Haberman Fabrics in Royal Oak. While there, I enjoyed sewing with the company of others. Is anyone in the area interested in forming a sewing group? We can meet monthly or bi-monthly or as often as the group sees fit - just to sit and sew.

Yes, count me in. I'm just at a place where I actually am beginning to have the time to sew again beyond urgent utilitarian stuff.

I had no clue there was such a thing as a sewing retreat anywhere near me. Tell all, please.

I'm interested, and have two co-workers who might also be interested. We can probably provide a location.

Each year on Super Bowl Sunday, Haberman Fabrics hosts a benefit for Haven House (a nonprofit organization designed to help women victims of domestic violence). 100% of the donations go to the organization. There are snacks, demonstrations, and sewing help to all who attend. This was my 3rd year attending and I've enjoyed going each time.

As for forming our sewing group, can one of you send me a private message? We can talk about it further by email.

I'd be interested, especially if it would be possible to work on fitting. I have yet to make a top that fits me properly.

I want to come. This is actually something I think about on a regular basis. I love sewing, but sometimes it's just too solitary. I'd love to hang out with a gaggle of like-minded chicks.

Lynnelle,

I sent you a private email. I am going to be away this week-end on a family matter so if you reply, I probably won't get to answer until Sunday evening.

Hi, I'm back and waiting to hear from you all about a sewing group in SE Michigan. We got thru Mom's funeral mass and a week-end of togetherness in a way that would make Mom happy and pleased. Now it's time to move on....

Bumping this up to the top. It's looking good so far. We've got a little group meeting on this Sunday, but I don't think it's nailed down yet. We have not decided on a time but the place is set unless our little group gets big (which is lovely, of course). So, whadya say???
