Date: 2/29/08 8:16 AM Hello, and welcome to the Official "Fitted Blouse Contest Thread"! I am your contest manager Birdie, feel free to send me a PM or ask a question directly on the contest thread at any time. Now for the details of the contest...
Rules
- Contest will run from March 1st - March 31st
- The blouse must use shaping through the use of darts, or dart equivalents such as princess seams, gathers, tucks, or pleats, to follow the contours of the body through the bust and waist
- The fabric must be woven or stretch woven
- Only one entry per person.
- Two winners will be selected through a vote open to members of PR. Voters will vote for the best fit (although judging for fit can be hard in an online world), construction as well as how well the entry meets the guidelines of this contest.
As per all contests on PR, all cutting of the fabric and sewing can only be done during the window of the contest. You may, however, pre-wash fabric, work on muslins, and cut pattern pieces before March 1st.

Date: 2/29/08 8:23 AM Sorry I am late setting this thread up everyone. We had a storm knock our cable out and we had to have the entire house rewired. Ironically, our appointment time for the repair happened to be during our lovely blackout so the repair was delayed even more. I am so glad to be back online and watching tv again. I did get some sewing in though while the tv and internet was down...isn't it amazing how tempting surfing PR is?
I am assuming everyone is busy cutting patterns and pre-washing their fabrics...
I absolutely can't wait to start to see the progression of these tops. |

Date: 2/29/08 8:47 AM Hi Everyone - I may or may not enter the contest. I think I'm getting bogged down in my sewing by being in 2 swaps and I still haven't made my (non fittied) blouse for the PR weekend blouse sew-along. I'm seeing a lot of good ideas out there though. I may just be a lurker:-) ------ blog: encue.blogspot.com

Date: 2/29/08 11:03 AM I'm all signed up! I have already started fitting Vogue 8476. I don't know if I will be using it for this contest, but I bought it at the Joann's sale last weekend, and it's so cute that I just couldn't wait to jump in. For the contest, I think I want to try 1915. I have a stretch charmeuse in black with tiny polka dot-like pink hearts that will be perfect for it. -- Edited on 2/29/08 11:04 AM -- ------ "Creativity is the residue of time wasted." Date: 2/29/08 11:12 AM Yikes! The contest starts tomorrow and I haven't even decided on a style, yet. I'm still going back and forth between knocking something off and sewing as is from a pattern.
Em ------ From what others have said, the nasty message came from Fitting Woes, NOT Misc Hot Topics or the Civility thread.

Both the patterns you selected are so cute! I especially like the first vogue pattern. I may have to add that to my stash. -- Edited on 2/29/08 11:19 AM -- ------ - Deepika

Date: 2/29/08 7:10 PM I'm ready to go! I have a blouse drawn up in PMB4 but I'm not sure if the collar/neck treatment qualifies. It's a Revere Lapel, which is really just an extra wide facing which turns open. Picture below.

Princess seams, my favorite! I have not decided on fabric yet. I have a lot of blouse materials to choose from in the craft closet... ------ Susan

No problems! I was a bit worried when you hadn't posted for a while. I'm glad to hear it is all fixed, although I bet your hip pocket is a lot lighter.
I'm all signed up. I dug out several fabrics yesterday plus twenty or so patterns. I think I've narrowed it down but I may still change my mind. I tend to do that. I'm hoping to sew a muslin this weekend to decide if I'm happy with my choice or if I need to start with something else. ------ Belinda. Melbourne, Australia

Date: 2/29/08 7:28 PM Fun! I'm either going to make Butterick 4985 or Jalie 2322. They both have slight fitting issues and it will be nice to have a place were people can help me fit it correctly. I'm excited. I just got my fabric last night. ------ dawn

I love that Butterick pattern! I was going to use that for my pattern, but I want to put a dolman sleeve on it, so I'll won't be starting on it yet. The Jalie one looks like a good basic too. If you could sort out your fitting issues it'll make a great TNT. What fabric did you get? -- Edited on 2/29/08 7:59 PM -- ------ "Creativity is the residue of time wasted." Albert Einstein.
