Does anyone know what a HA-1SP needle is? It says right on the front of the Janome 1110 serger to only use that type of needle. That would be fine if I could find such a needle anywhere. I asked at Joann's this weekend and their solution was a Schmetz universal....I haven't tried that yet, I was hoping someone here could help me out. Thank you. Debi

Hi Debi, the Schmetz universal will not work. You need to buy them from a Janome dealer, many of the Janome sergers use that needle. I think you might even be able to get them on-line from some of the dealers. My Janome compulock serger uses the ELx705 needle. But the first place to go is your Janome dealer. Joann's does not carry serger needles, unless they are a store with a dealer lease area in the store.

It says on the Janome site, that your serger takes regular needles. (Organ brand HA-1SP). Klasse also makes an HA1SP serger needle as well as other serger needles. They can be purchased on line (SewVac Direct) or at local dealers.
The Allbrands site sells Organ needles and does say that some Organ needles can sub for the Schmetz ELx705 needles which both my serger and coverlock use and the Schmetz EL are the only needles I have used for cover hem. Klasse also has ELx705.
I do use Schmetz Universal needles in all of my sewing machines.
I buy my needles from several local different brand dealers. Usually any sewing machine brand dealer including on line dealers sell all of the above needles.
The HA1SP needles can probably be purchased on line or at your local Sears stores too. Sears Kenmore sergers are made by Janome.
I am surprised that your Joann's did not have them.

Allbrands.com allows you to search for needles based on your machine. I have the Janome 1110DX and just bought Organ 15x1SP needles from there; they are a light ball point and a great improvement over using sharps since I mostly sew with knits. The price was good and shipping was free with the purchase of 100 needles.

I like to order my needles from CTS USA

CTS USA Home Page

They appear to have your Janome serger needles here:

Organ 15-1SP Ballpoint Needles

at a price of $23.95 per 100, free shipping. Quite a good deal!

CTUSA also has the regualr point SP (15x1 SP) needles. I use these and they work fine on both knits and wovens.
