I'm posting the official rules for the contest now. If there are any questions, please let me know. Let the planning begin!!!!

About the handbag

c) Use of interfacing to make it a structured bag is required. It can be a slouchy bag also, but interfacing is still required.

e) Use of hardware is optional but is encouraged.

f) grocery bags are not allowed.

2. There are two prizes for this contest. One by reader votes and the Second by judges votes. There are three judges for this contest : Nikki, Stacy Sews and Deepika. Voting will begin May 1st and end on May 10th.

I asked this question on the other thread but I don't think it was answered. If I make a handbag for the wardrobe contest but don't start it until April, can I also enter it here?

Sherrill, that's been done in the past, and as far as I know is still fine!
Coming from you, I bet it will be killer, too!

I'm hoping to do the same thing, Sherrill. It'll be my second handbag. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one goes okay, too.

I'm in. I will make this bowling bag by the Danish pattern and fabric company Stof og Stil. They have a big selection of patterns, but not many reviews here on PR.

I have not made anything from them before, but I own a Stof og Stil top pattern and the instructions were very skimpy with no illos (thus me not making it), so I suspect I am in for a bit of a challenge.

I will make the bag in black and white fake leather.

Also a question from a bag newbie (I don't even own a handbag): Do you have any ideas on which lining I should choose? I am thinking about using a nylon utility fabric, such as a rip stop, since I am thinking acetate lining won't be sturdy enough for an everyday bag.
Your thoughts?

That's a recent ruling on entering contests. Maybe Cindi-Lou can answer any specific questions. I hope you'll sew along even if you can't enter. I know someone else is doing that. It won't be long before you are eligible to enter.
