Mom died peacefully a week ago today. She left with both my sister and I by her side. We buried her Saturday, and on Sunday morning we all went and sat in *her pew* at church. The priest after mass announced to the congregation that a pillar of the church was gone, and recognized all of us -- something I have only rarely seen him do.

The week started out crappy anyway - DH had the extension ladder at a horrific angle while painting under the roof line, and fell face first with the ladder as it slid down.
He is okay, but has fractured his wrist and hurt the tendons in his hand which will require surgery. His neck is fine, and head CAT scan was fine, but he experiences dizziness upon standing, so he went to two stores to check on the machine, and it was high. He saw his doctor, who thinks it's just temporary due to Mom dying, and his fall. He ordered him to take his pain meds regularly (which he of course refuses to do), and so I'm making him another appointment to have all that re-checked. The pain meds have codeine and I guess it doesn't agree with him.

I am very glad the week is over for me!
One good thing is that I came to PR and saw I now have two stars which made me feel good!

Mary, I'm so very sorry you've lost your mom. I know how it feels to lose a mom and I'm sad you're having to go through it. Having DH get injured too is just more than you should have to handle right now.

My sympathy to you and your family. I know this is a difficult time for you.

Hope things check out well for your DH. They do not make the best patients.

Mary, please accept my condolences on the loss of your beloved Mother. This is a hard time in any woman's life and wish you some comfort from that fact that your PR friends care a great deal about you.

As to your DH, his injuries, and the pain meds he's (supposed to be) taking, and the dizziness he's experiencing, please know that it's possible that any dizziness, nausea and/or vertigo may be related to his codeine based pain meds. Often, MD's will simultaneously prescribe GRAVOL in conjunction with this class of pain meds to combat these side effects. GRAVOL is in the same category of drugs as Dramamine and is used to treat nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, etc.

Since you and DH are returning to the MD, ask about having a prescription of GRAVOL to accompany his pain meds; this may encourage him to take his pain meds, at least for a short period. Can't hurt; might help.

My very best wishes to you and your family, Lily

Hey Mary,
I am feeling your pain, as you spoke of your loss I thought of my own mom, I said good bye to her 10yrs ago and miss her a lot, but trust me when I say after a while the hurt is a little less, and the wonderful memories of your time with her will shine and that is what will sustain you and help your cope, we are all connected to your feelings of sadness and I know all of us are praying for you. Mary, I'm sorry to hear about your mom and DH's injury. It's hard to lose a parent.

What a lovely tribute the priest made to your mom and family.

I am so sorry about your mother. I know what a knife blow that is, even if she is very sick.

And then your husband and the ladder fall. It doesn't rain but what it pours.

I sure hope that this is the end of the painful experiences for you. You have all of my sympathy, Mary.
